Katherine S. Gloyd, DVM

Founder and President

Dr. Kathy Gloyd is a consultant who has been actively involved in planning and implementing veterinary continuing education and focused communications for more than 20 years, working with academics, professional organizations, and industry. A graduate of Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Gloyd gained valuable clinical experience as a practice associate in central Florida, with a concentration in small animal and exotic animal medicine and surgery. While in private practice, she taught part-time in the St. Petersburg Junior College Veterinary Technician Program, eventually becoming its director as well as obtaining funding for and overseeing construction of a new dedicated facility.

Dr. Gloyd moved to a position in the animal health industry in 1983 as a professional services manager for Hill’s Pet Nutrition. She then joined the special projects professional staff at Veterinary Learning Systems, publisher, where she served as vice president until 1997.

In July 1997, Dr. Gloyd and her husband, Dr. Joe Gloyd, became partners in The Gloyd Group, Inc., a company dedicated to all aspects of veterinary continuing education, including publications, multimedia, technical support, symposia, and other large and small group meetings. The Gloyd Group comprises veterinarians, scientific writers and editors, copywriters, designers and artists, multimedia and production specialists, and meetings managers that work globally to deliver innovative CE that is meaningful to working practitioners and support staff. Also in 1997, Dr. Gloyd served as a consultant to the American Association of Veterinary State Boards to establish Registry of Approved Continuing Education (RACE) credentials for veterinary CE certification. In 2002, she was instrumental in forming the Companion Animal Parasite Council and served as its first executive director.

Dr. Gloyd has enjoyed a long partnership with many world veterinary conferences, including the Western Veterinary Conference for which she has consulted in program planning and introduced sessions featuring interactive technology. She served on the original planning committee for the Eastern States Veterinary Association and as chair for both the Veterinary Technician and Equine Programs and is currently on the advisory board of NAVC Clinician’s Brief. Her other long-term affiliations include AAHA, AVMA, World Buiatrics, and WSAVA plus additional specialty veterinary associations.

The Gloyd Group is headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware, where Dr. Gloyd resides with her husband, teen-aged son, and a menagerie of two dogs, two cats, assorted fish, and a variety of transient adopted birds, rodents, reptiles, and creatures in need.

Gloyd Group has a relationship business. We and our clients have a passion for the work we do and for the end users. — Kathy Gloyd, DVM
