Colin Burrows, BVetMed, PhD, MRCVS, DACVIM—Professor and Dept. Chair of Small Animal Medicine, Dept. of Clinical Sciences, University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, also Executive Director of NAVC, Editor-in-Chief Clinician’s Brief

Kathy Gloyd was a member of the original program committee for the then “Eastern States Veterinary Association,” so our relationship goes back years. I’ve seen Kathy’s career blossom, watched her develop her own company, the Gloyd Group. We’re very, very happy to work with Kathy and the Gloyd Group. What you get is first class results, integrity, quality, and first rate service.

I’ve worked with the Gloyd Group for over 10 years—I’ve known Kathy Gloyd and I’ve worked with several programs that [Gloyd Group] has organized—and the thing that strikes me about that group is that they are very professional. But in addition to that, you can be sure there is going to be a quality program that you can participate in. It will be well attended and you are going to get to work with some of the premier speakers in the country, because those are the only people that they use.

Well, I’m proud to say that I was at least partially responsible for getting Kathy and the Gloyd Group involved with the American Heartworm Society [AHS]. We had considered several groups in our field, and having worked with Kathy on CAPC, and having worked with Kathy on Pfizer, and having worked with Kathy on international symposia and expert panels and advisory councils, I knew the skills that she had; I knew the qualities of organization that her group possessed would get it done. So I’ve recommended her on several occasions and will continue to do so.

I can say that the Gloyd Group has made our lives easier. I find them highly competent in the selection of Key Opinion Leaders as well as in the organization of events. Everyone we talk to is highly reliable.

I’ve worked with the Gloyd Group for approximately 10 years in multiple capacities: organizing meetings, in consultation with drug companies about products, and I’ve worked with the Gloyd Group in terms of being a speaker at CE meetings. The words I think would be “precise” and “fun” for this group. They do a great job of organization. They are fair. They do what they say they are going to do. It’s always a lot of fun. It’s a great group.

Mike Paul, DVM — Executive Director and CEO,
Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC)

[Kathy Gloyd] helped us bring CAPC from a good idea to a reality and take it from a reality to a productive product. I honestly don’t believe CAPC would have become anything like what it is without her guidance. She, especially in the early days, helped keep people—a very difficult group of people sometimes—focused and oriented and doing a good job to unify the message that we wanted to bring about.

Continuing thought:

She worked well with the group; I really enjoyed watching—I learned a lot from her first of all—but I learned that the interactions were both firm and disciplined when appropriate, but also very fun, very casual! She could laugh when she needed to and she could slap people on the wrist when she needed to, and that was great.

The Gloyd Group was instrumental in getting us [the Companion Animal Parasite Council] organized and to facilitating our meetings such that we produced what was required in the amount of time that we had to bring forth the organization, which now has gone on to have significant sponsorship from the major players in the animal health industry and actually, I think, is making a difference in terms of pet care in the United States.

Continuing thought:

The Gloyd Group was instrumental in allowing us to move from Point Zero to a point where we were a functional group.  We had the funds to exist; what we did not have was the organizational skills to make ourselves exist in a meaningful way.

And more:

Dr. Kathy Gloyd served as our facilitator for the various groups as we worked our way through the establishment of the Companion Animal Parasite Council.  She worked hard to have us interact with different people.  She brought together the different members of the team. She worked us through the design of our basic mission statement and also she worked us through the design of our actual organizational set, bringing in law firms to help with the creation of our constitution and bylaws that allowed us to function as an organization as we were preparing to go public.

I was really impressed with the quality of that manual [the Pfizer Atlas of Veterinary Clinical Parasitology]. That still—and I’ve done several of them—in my mind, when I look at it, is the highest quality manual we’ve done, in terms of quality of materials, I think the accuracy of the information, the usability of the information, the quality of the diagrams, the capability of the veterinarian to take that book, open it to a page, and illustrate a life cycle, illustrate the biology of a parasite, explain what they’re treating, why they’re treating. We’re very proud of that!  I think [my co-author] Michael Dryden would tell you the same thing.

Continuing thought:

I think the Gloyd Group really did an excellent job of putting everybody on the same page, of bringing all of our thoughts together, of conceptualizing and implementing this strategy of a diagnostic manual, an educational manual.

Elizabeth Green — President Clinician’s Brief

I’ve known [Kathy Gloyd] for over 20 years and there are two things that are synonymous with everything she works on. First is her industry knowledge and her in-depth knowledge of what goes on in the veterinary practice, and the second thing is excellence. There is no such thing as a Gloyd Group project that is average.

Continuing thought:

Kathy has been an integral part of the formation of NAVC Clinicians Brief from the very beginning. She has helped give us the insight we needed to make the editorial very useful for veterinarians.

One of the other things with Kathy is that I’ve had the opportunity to work with her on a couple of other projects—actually, with the Gloyd Group in general—and I’ve always found that they are extremely efficient, extremely effective, and extremely focused on what they’re doing. There’s no confusion about the purpose of the project, there’s no doubt about what the outcome will be—it will be a good product.

Continuing thought:

Kathy is a great facilitator, she’s a great organizer, and she’s always delightful to work with. I’ve gotten to know a lot of her staff—they’re all great people. They’re all fun; they all know how to work hard and how to play, and it’s an enjoyment and a pleasure to work with them.
